Free Your Mind

Since David Ortiz signed his contract last Friday he's 9 for 17 (.529) with 4 doubles and 7 RBI in four games. During the press conference after the signing Ortiz mentioned that it felt good to have the contract off his mind, and I guess it does.

I'm not sure I'm ready to call him a bargain, yet - he's not much in the field, and his body worries me - but I love him. Whenever he comes up in the late innings of a close game, you just know he's going to do something. We haven't had that since Mo Vaughn left town.

Fun fact: Before tonight's game Mark Bellhorn had 39 walks - the same number Nomar had all of last year. Still think this OBP-crazed management will sign Nomar?
