True story

I was watching the end - or the beginning of the long end - of today's game with my cousin, who said this about Keith Foulke: "I actually wish he'd blow a save now, just to get it out of his system." About three pitches later he did just that.

Since Boston won the game, it's hard not to look at this as a convenient release of pressure. One thing the team doesn't need is Foulke headed into a pennant drive with some sort of streak hanging over his head.

The case against playing Kevin Millar anywhere but DH continues to build. McCarty, an excellent glove man (he made a great play at first earlier in the week) played right field perfectly, had a big double in the ninth to help Boston tie the game, and hit the game-winning homer in the thirteenth. I have nothing against Millar per se, but the sooner Francona takes him out of the field for good, the better.
